Son to Portuguese parents, Antoine Pinto arrives in Belgium at the age of 17. He enters the 'Académie des Beaux-Arts' to study architectural interior design and finances his education by cooking in several restaurants. .In 1976 he opens his first restaurant in two small working class houses which he connects by a glass wall. In 1980 the Besser Guide, the German equivalent of the Gault & Millau Guide, proclaims Antoine Pinto one of Central Europe's hundred best chefs. He seduces gourmets with his haute cuisine, but he remains nevertheless a diplomed artist in heart and soul. 25 years later he is called the expert in Horeca interior design.
Clients looking for the extra touch come to see him and at his architectural design office Pinto & Co more than 56 projects have been created : the legendary Alcantara Café in Lisbon, La Quincallerie, Dock's Café, Pasta Commedia, Genval les Bains, Mundo Pain, the Ostend Queen and three other establisments within the Casino in Ostend, the Gavius, de Marivaux, de Vénitien, de Crystal (Sofitel Brussels)... And of course his two flagships : the Belga Queen in Brussels and Ghent, the Saint Michel clinic in Etterbeek (lobby lounge). The challenge for Antoine Pinto consists of rejuvenating locations with existing space, history and unique characterstics in his own typical way.
